Returning to normal

The air was filled with the scent of fresh water this morning as the waves rolled in off an oily sea, unencumbered by the chop and disturbance from the wind. The unusually calm conditions allowed the birds voices to carry through the still air and even the dripping water off the leaves and branches parried enthusiastically onto the sodden ground. The other obvious part of the morning was the lack of people, hustle and bustle and holiday energy. With not a person to be seen I could take a deep breath and know that till at least the next holiday period the mornings could be my domain again!!
