Each morning as I head out and stare in wonder at the beautiful sunrises that appear each morning I am aware of a growing disquiet regarding the lack of rain. Sure, the grass is crunchy under foot and its colour is more brown than green but the water is clear and blue and my nature is to look east rather than west.
As I arrived in Toowoomba last night dark clouds were gathering and I thought we might be in for a storm, not uncommon as we are in the middle of our storm season and this is where they normally begin.
This morning however, the clouds lingered over the range delivering good, steady soaking rain. Whilst the morning lacked the reds and oranges of something spectacular, the blues and greys offered enough to make the farmers, not to mentioned the dry and parched land something to be thankful for.
